How to Write Numbers in Scientific Notation?
Scientific notation. refers to writing a very small or a very large number in a simple way. It consists of three parts: coefficient, base and exponent. Coefficient is a number greater than 1 and less than 10. It contains all the significant digits in the number. The base is 10 and the exponent is the number of places the decimal was moved to obtain the coefficient.
The exponent in scientific notation can be a positive or a negative number. The positive exponent tells to move the decimal point to the right. The negative number tells to move the decimal point to the left.
