What is a library?

— a library is a collection of sources, resources, and services, and the structure in which it is housed it is organized for use and maintained by a public body,an institution, or a private individual.

What are the sections in the library?

— There are various sections in the library although big libraries have more sections. what I’m going to give you are just basic sections commonly found even in small libraries:

1. General Reference – where you can find general encyclopedia works like dictionaries, almanacs, atlases, directories, handbooks, manual, indexes and abstracts, etc.

2. Periodicals section – where you can find local and foreign journals, magazines, newspapers, government publications, and other forms of serial publication, vertical files such as pamphlets, brochures and newspaper clippings.

3. General Collection/Circulation Section – Where you can find the main collection of the library like books on philosophy, Religion, social sciences, language, arts, pure science, applied sciences, literature, history, and geography.

4. Filipiniana Section – Where you can find books published within bthe Philippines and written about the Philippines, it’s history, people, government, and culture.
